The Kirkbean Parish Heritage Society will, as part of its work, be adding information to this website to assist those undertaking family history research.

The first project will be to add all the information contained on the headstones of Kirkbean Churchyard, complete with a diagram showing the location of individual graves.

We also intend to add parish records. Please check back regularly for further updates.

A glimpse into the past...

In 1798, during the war between Britain and France, an appeal was issued to the general public for voluntary subscriptions to help pay for the war.

The contribution lists, showing the residents of the parish who contributed, were published in the Dumfries Weekly Journal of that year.
